What is Twitter Twitter is a Web 2.0 tool • Allows the use of the internet as a repository for information • Used for creating, sharing, and consuming information • Also called micro blogging expressed in the combination of four characteristics: • Length of the message is limited to 140 characteristics (tweet) • Message is public • Distribution of message depends on interest of followers • Message transmission can be synchronous or asynchronous • Twitter users are able to post direct and indirect updates • Conversations may occur by posting updates directed at specific users
Integrating Twitter Into the Curriculum and Beyond • Teaching a simple weather lesson • Storysharing • Personal Learning Networks • Personal Learning Communities • Collaboration around the world and beyond the workplace • Encouragement, support, and resources • Communication
