  3. Setting • Rusty Nail, Minnesota, 1953 • (MORE SPECIFICALY) School, Madame Malenkov's house, and Franny’s house (even on the roof).

  4. Plot • Franny Hansen is a very good piano player. She practices A LOT, but she also spends some of her free time with her best friend, Sandy. • It is rumored that Charley, the neighbor, comes back from Russia (to Rusty Nail) with a new wife – Madame Malenkov. • Franny convinces Madame Malenkov to give her piano lessons. • Now, it’s the big piano competition between Nancy and Franny!
