  2. 2. Anchor introductions GERD: Good afternoon, I’m GerdHawkslayer ETHEL: And I’m Ethel Reddy. GERD: And this is Saxon News. ETHEL: Today the trial of the century reaches its thrilling conclusion. We talk live in the studio to the accused Williamina Westow GERD: And we show - for the first time - stunning pictures of a horde of treasure dug up recently by a farmer ploughing his field. ETHEL: And later on: death GERD: Doom ETHEL: Destruction GERD: And showers predicted.

  3. Anchors Intro… cont… ETHEL But first: the trial of the century. Earlier this week, local woman, WileminaWestow was accused of the murder and can-ee-ball-i-zay-shon. Yes, that’s right, can-ee-ball-i-zay-shon of her fellow villager Beatrice Brocolli. GERD: Williamina chose trial by ordeal. With her bare hand she removed a red-hot iron bar from the fire and clutching it tight, stumbled three paces before dropping the bar and setting it clanging and clattering on the floor.

  4. Anchors intro… cont… ETHEL: Her hand was bandaged. If the hand heals within three days: she is innocent of the crime. If the hand is still pus-ridden and swollen: she is guilty and will be punished severely. We have exclusive pictures of the removal of the bandages . Gerd receives news through his earpiece. GERD: We are just getting some breaking news of a bloodthirsty monster on the rampage. People across East Anglia are fearing for their lives. Let’s take a look GERD and ETHEL turn to look at the video screen.

Anna turns to Johnny. ANNA: And how do feel about this? JOHNNY: I feel angry and afraid. We have to stop him

  6. Interview cont…. Anna turns to Sid 1. ANNA: How do you think we can stop him? SID 1: We have to kill him. We have to kill him now! Anna turns to Sid 2 ANNA: Isn’t he too strong for an ordinary man? SID 2: Yes. And he reeks of rotton radishes ANNA: He killed. He reeks of rotton radishes. He will kill again if something isn’t done. Back to you Gerd. Anna hand microphone back to Gerd and exits Warrior victims exit.

  8. 7. Wilhelmina interview While Jingle plays Alfred fetch microphone from Gerd At the Interview Table, a second interviewer (ALFRED) sits with WILHELMINA WESTOW ALFRED: And here I am in the studio with Wilhelmina Westow. Wilhelmna: Innocent, how does it feel? WILHEMINA: It feels great. I feel like I’ve been given my life back. ALFRED: And what are you going to do with your life now? WILHELMINA: Good works. Helping orphans and things like that. I will never kill again. Wilhelmina puts her hand over her mouth ALFRED: But I thought that you were innocent CROWD A: Guilty! Guilty! CROWD B: Innocent! Innocent! Alfred and Wilhelmina look worried. ALFRED: I’m afraid for security reasons we are going to have to cut this interview short. Ethel, back to you.

  10. 10. Mid-show headlines Jingle GERD: Hello and welcome back. You are watching Saxons Live with me GerdHawkslayer ETHEL: And me: Ethel Reddy. GERD: The news so far today. ETHEL Rampaging beast who must be stopped GERD Willammina Westow walks free. But is she innocent? Ethel listens to her earpiece ETHEL: More now on the monster rampage. A warrior called Beowulf has fought the monster Grendhel. This footage just in... They turn to the video screen

  11. 11. Video: Beowulf vs Grendhel battle Jingle 12. Anchor link (Gerd & Ethel) ETHEL: An incredible victory there for Beowulf. We can all sleep securely in our beds. Gerd. GERD: Ethel. And now, more good news for someone. That unbelievable treausure trove - thought to be the lost treasure of King Raedwald of Sutton Hoo. For news of this unbelievable find, it’s over to our treasure correspondent Edwina Twinkle Hand microphone to Edwina

  12. 13. Treasure report (Edwina) EDWINA: When farmer GodricGodricson set off to plough his field last Thorsday, little did he think he would make a discovery that could well make him a wealthy man. A small gold object glistening in the morning light on the freshly ploughed soil led him to dig deeper and find what many now believe is the horde buried with the late King Raewald. Relatives of the dead king are saying it belongs to them and Godric has to hand it over. Godric, understandably, is reluctant to give the treasure up. Hand microphone back to Ethel 14. Anchor link (Ethel) ETHEL: Thank you Edwina. And now: the sport. Hand microphone to Wulfstan

  13. 15. Sport: prize-fight run-up SPORT: We’ve got a big fight coming up. The mother of the recently slain monster has challenged the warrior Beowulf to a fight. Furious at the warrior’s slaying of her only son, the mean and manky monster who goes only by the name of ‘Mum’ has only murder on her mind. In the run up to the big fight, we’ve been looking at the stats and considering the two combatants’ chances.

  14. 16. Video: prizefight statistics  During Jingle - Wulfstan hand microphone back to Gerd 17. Anchor link (Gerd) GERD: Phew. I know who my money’s on. And that just about leaves us with enough time for the weather report. Over to you Egbert Dampager Hand microphone to Egbert during weather music

  15. 18. Weather report EGBERT: Thank you Gerd. That monster looks pretty scary doesn’t it? But anyway, looking at today’s weather - and other predictions - Rain over to the west means the boars will be swollen for the feast and the crops will grow. Meanwhile a storm to the north spells danger for all lazy women. Plenty of sunshine over to the east means we will be chopping wood outside. But there is a hint of cloud so we may need to eat less porridge. Finally simultaneous snow and rain in the south means a hungry winter ahead for all of us. Thank you. Gerd.

  16. 19. Closing headlines Get Microphone from Egbert GERD: Thanks Egbert . And that’s all we’ve got time for this afternoon. On the day one monster was killed but another one raised its - literally - ugly head. ETHEL: And the result of the trial of the century was revealed. GERD: It’s time to say good bye from all of us here at Saxon News. Good bye. ETHEL Good bye. 20. Closing titles Theme music. Gerd and Ethel shuffle their papers and mime a conversation.
