Background • Express has worked with the Chamber of Commerce and City of Irving presenting/ sponsoring: - 3 to 4 management/leadership programs per year - Leadership Irving – Leadership Day Sponsor – past 5 years - “Express Business Book Synopsis” program - 2010/2011/2012 - Chick-fil-A Leadercast in Irving - 2010/2011/2012 - Express Leadership Live – 2011/2012 - Future Leaders of Irving program – 2011/12 • Since 2010, Express has donated over $3,000 in Scholarships from proceeds raised from Leadership Excellence programs with the Irving Schools Foundation& Big Brothers Big Sisters
Purpose of Events in 2012/2013 • Provide High-Quality and Low-Cost management/leadership development opportunities to public and private sector organizations in Irving • Quarterly Programs: -Presentations/Synopsis of Best-Selling Business Books - Seminars on current/relevant leadership topics - Local Executive – Panel discussing on leadership topics - Nation-wide live simulcasts on Leadership featuring well known/respected business leaders, authors and speakers • Raise Funds for One Irving…Making the Grade
What is One Irving? Established by the Greater Irving – Las Colinas chamber of commerce as a separate 501 C-3 educational support foundation, One Irving….Making the grade has 3 objectives: 1.Educate • Increase the number of college-bound and post-secondary students by improving test scores in science and math, and create a culture of empowerment through applied leadership principles. • Students who are motivated in the classroom achieve much more in school. Providing activities outside the classroom can expose students to career options that will capitalize on individual interests and abilities and drive them to excel in school. 2. Motivate • Link career opportunities and academic excellence. • One Irving” will expand Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) programs to propel an additional 1,450 economically disadvantaged and language-challenged students toward college or higher learning at MacArthur High School and the Jack E. Singley Academy, two of the four high schools in Irving Independent School District (IISD). 3. Celebrate • Promote Irving through an image and marketing campaign by accurately and consistently portraying Irving’s assets and academic achievements.
