  2. NDTA Mission The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) has historically served as a link between the transportation executives in Government and their counterparts in Industry. Chapter activities bring together transportation professionals from the military, other government agencies, and the commercial industry to enhance their knowledge, broaden their professional education, and enjoy each other’s company.

The Individual As a Member • By joining NDTA, the individual becomes a member of the Authoritative Voice on Defense Transportation • You will benefit by the exchange of ideas, concepts, and information • The NDTA Annual Forum brings together top industry and government leaders to discuss the most timely issues of the day • Membership includes a subscription to the Defense Transportation Journal, a bi-monthly magazine that is a rich source of information about your industry, your government, and the world around you

  5. Why Should I Join? NDTA is the professional organization for the transportation professional

  6. Purpose • To provide a common forum to discuss and endorse • programs that promote transportation preparedness for • economic and security needs • To provide active assistance, in a non-partisan capacity, • to government agencies • Serve as link between government and industry • Assist in transportation education of young executives • Support continued reliance on private enterprise systems • of ownership and operation of transportation

  7. Current Status Current Members: 116 Account Balance: approx. $3,000

Chapter Members • 33 Corporate members from 18 organizations • One Regional Patron Member (Maersk K.K.) • 26 DoD Civilians • Army: 14 (10 officers and 4 NCOs) • Air Force: 31 (12 officers, 16 NCOs, 3 Enl) • Navy: 7 officers • Two college students (one ROTC Cadet) • Other: 3 (one MLC, one Japanese, and one U.S. Civilian)

  11. Objectives1 of 2 • Be a non-partisan voice for transportation requirements • involving DoD on mainland Japan • Provide yearly Academic Scholarship(s) • Ensure meetings provide a medium for professional • development • Ensure and encourage Commercial Industry involvement

  12. Objectives2 of 2 • Develop a Transportation Education Program • Develop networking opportunities that provide • interested members an opportunity to pursue career • opportunities • Raise money through special events like golf • tournaments, bazaars, and bake sales • Have Fun!!

Goals1 of 2 • Meet at least quarterly, and alternate locations to • accommodate all Chapter members • Establish a guest speaker program for meetings • Fully utilize the Chapter committees for membership, • meetings, and scholarship • Increase Corporate membership and establish at least • three Sustaining Members or Regional Patrons

Goals2 of 2 • Obtain and sustain a membership of 120 members by • Jan 02 • Maintain a minimum balance of $1,000 in the chapter’s • bank account • Schedule two golf tournaments per year, and alternate • locations to accommodate all Chapter members • Schedule at least two visits per year to local civilian • transportation industries

  16. Working Initiatives 1 of 3 • Maintain and expand the member and potential • member database • Seek opportunities for Guest Speakers • Distribute information on the Certified Professional • Logistician Certification • Solicit and expand participation and membership • throughout mainland Japan

Working Initiatives 2 of 3 • Develop a Chapter Home Page on the Internet (DONE!) • Improve and continue the Chapter Scholarship Program • Fill and exercise the Chapter Committees • Purchase a Chapter Banner and promotional items • (DONE!) • Support the Army, Navy, and Air Force Balls, and • sponsor young Chapter members

Working Initiatives 3 of 3 • Visit local DoD High Schools and discuss careers in • Transportation and Logistics with the students • Plan events for Transportation Week 2002 • Publish and distribute a monthly Chapter Newsletter • (DEC 01 WILL BE FIRST ISSUE) • Seek charity opportunities (orphanages, shelters, blood • drives, holiday food baskets)
