Soldier System Integration • OBJECTIVE: To assure that soldier system integration considerations are addressed adequately in the IAV acquisition (non-developmental item) so that IAVs can be operated and maintained efficiently and effectively • DESIRED DECISION: IAV source selection(s) best value represents acceptable baseline soldier system integration characteristics. • APPROACH: DoD human system integration (HSI) requirements are addressed by the Army’s MANPRINT program and are assessed in MSII documentation. Areas that have been identified that require further analysis and/or resolution include: • Will sufficient officer and enlisted manpower (spaces) and personnel (MOS’s) be available to fill operational, support, and leadership positions for the IAV / BCT structure? • Will there be a degradation in IAV crew or dismounted squad performance due to motion sickness, heat stress or insufficient ventilation? • Will IAV crew performance be degraded due to the location and usability of the FBCB2 C4ISR systems? • Will the planned top armor be sufficient to meet the expected top attack anti-armor threats, particularly given the expected doctrinal employment of IAV in built up areas? • PATH FORWARD: Incorporate these considerations into the updated MANPRINT plan as part of IAV contract(s) execution.
