Copper by itself, is too soft to make tools of, and tin is too brittle it breaks too easily. But if you mix a little tin in the copper, it becomes bronze, which is much harder and at the same time less brittle. +

Bronze Chime-bells The chime – bells, cast with bronze, is a instrument in ancient China. It consisted of oval bells in different size arranged to the order of the pitch, which are hung on a huge bell cot. Different tones can be produced when beating the bells with wood hammer and a long stick, and beautiful music can be performed when beating to the tune.

Simuwu ding 司母戊鼎 Simuwu ding (司母戊鼎) is the heaviest ancient bronze ware in the world by now, which is named for the three Chinese characters “Si Mu Wu” carved on the belly of the vessel. With a height of 133mm and a weight of 833kg.
