The Most Dynamic Healthcare Entrepreneur Of The Year 2022 Ahad Bandealy W levels, and many more. Advocator of 'Listen to Cure' hen people usually hear the term 'healthy,' they associate it with the physical overtone such as the absence of diseases, good cardiovascular a few major inefficiencies in the mental health sector. These inefficiencies were threefold. Practitioner demand outpaced supply, clinical training was costly and time-consuming, and lastly, there was a failure to provide objective data regarding one's mental health. But unfortunately, many so-called healthy people suffer from mental health problems. For them, help never comes because they either fail to seek it or lack appropriate knowledge. With the help of many others, I was empowered to create Get A-Head to solve these inefficiencies. Our company combines telehealth, practice management, and data analytic tools to offer a comprehensive platform that benefits service providers (supervisors, trainees, accredited clinicians) and clients. Creating a safe space and making awareness of mental health has been the absolute aim of many companies providing services, Get A-Head is one such platform that aims to deliver head-on quality mental health care and training. What are the core values upon which your organization is built? What is the the mission of your organization? Under the driven leadership of Ahad Bandealy, Founder and CEO, the company has built comprehensive training and onboarding support. He has promoted and deeply believes in offering prices to help suit organizations of any size. In business, these two terms (value and mission) are frequently used yet misunderstood and, honestly, abstract. While building this organization, I enrolled in an MBA program in Healthcare Technologies and Leadership at the Jack Welch Management Institute. It was my learnings at the Jack Welch Management Institute that led me to establish our company's mission and the set of behaviors that guide our pursuit of it. In an interview with Insights Care, Ahad talks about the foundation of Get A-Head and how the company has created an impact in the mental health industry. Our mission is to revolutionize how mental health services are delivered and how practitioners are trained by providing a software platform that helps train new practitioners, measure client outcomes, and improve effectiveness in the delivery of care. The set of behaviors that guide our pursuit of this mission includes candor, the quest for knowledge and innovation, executing passion that is infectious, collaboration on each project, active listening, and empathy. Below are the highlights of the interview: Ahad, please give us a brief overview of your journey as the CEO and Founder of Get A-Head. Get A-Head combines telehealth, practice management, and data analytic tools to offer a comprehensive platform that benefits service providers (supervisors, trainees, accredited clinicians) and clients. Ahad Bandealy Founder and CEO Get A-Head Tell us more about Get A-Head, its vision, and how it provides mental health support and enhance clinical practice? Practitioners are taught to pick up on nuances with patients, but with tools like our Natural Language Processing tool, they can pick up on so many more nuances that they wouldn't otherwise. Our technology enables us in providing high-quality services to treat the increasingly large population of people seeking mental health services. A large issue in the mental healthcare industry is the demand for mentalhealthcare outpacing the supply of service providers. Alleviating this problemstarts with the supply of service providers. As it turns out, technology can play asignificant role in equipping service providers to get through the accreditationprocess more efficiently by helping them learn better and faster. 17|www.insightscare.com August 2022
Elaborate more on the solutions and services that Get A- Head offers, and how are These are making an impact on the mental healthcare industry. As an established industry leader, what would be your advice to the budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts aspiring to venture into the mental healthcare industry? The platform offers clients the ability to match with providers based on demographic attributes of their choosing, schedule audio, and video sessions through the platform, and have access to their own progress notes. Follow your passion and immerse yourself in the experience of those for whom you are trying to solve a problem. My personal experience as a patient in the mental healthcare system and my professional experience in business and as a practitioner-in-training prepared me to create a responsible solution in this space. Before you start a company in this space, try to grasp a good understanding of your users and the experiences that they face and then consider how you can solve their problems in a way that is based on evidence. It offers clinician features such as the digital two-way mirror, which allows supervisors to support trainees in real- time, and natural language processing which provides a transcript of each session along with analytics that provides objective data revealing quantifiable insight into the client's psychological and emotional state. These features improve the efficiency of clinical training, promoting an increased supply of mental health practitioners and therefore balancing the demand surplus. By providing practitioners with access to natural language processing transcription and analytics, this platform grants practitioners access to objective data that may help diagnose and treat clients and thereby increase the efficacy of care delivered. Too often, founders are rushed by the pressures to come out with an app or technology, without fully understanding the problem they are trying to solve. Failing to understand the problem and rushing to find a solution does a disservice to the communities we are trying to help and to ourselves. Ask yourself, "Am I'm creating or solving a problem by augmenting the work or improving an individual's experience?" How do you envision further strengthening Get A-Head stronghold in 2022 and beyond? What are the biggest challenges you have faced and the most important lessons you have learned in your vocation so far? What are the types of challenges that you still face to this day? We are looking forward to engaging in more partnerships, pushing the envelope on innovative healthcare technologies and learning more about how the latest technologies can solve problems in the mental health industry. We are proud to offer some of the most innovative features in the industry, and we are excited to continue to offer even more as we grow. We are incredibly grateful to have been met with so much fortune throughout the development of this company. One of the most notable challenges we face is push-back, which is not uncommon in the pursuit of innovation. We understand that change is quite uncomfortable for most people, so we do our best to include those whose systems and processes we are innovating, in our decision-making. We host round-table discussions with our clients where we welcome conversations about what is working/what more might be needed. We are interested in exploring additional data sources to improve mental healthcare's efficacy. We are finding data from wearable technologies to be quite relevant in the context of mental health, along with data from personalized medical tests. We are excited by recent learnings about how saliva testing can yield data relevant to mental health. A challenge that we face on a daily basis, as a player in the mental health industry, is responsible access. Mental healthcare is becoming an increasingly demanded resource, and it is up to us (and other fellow players in the industry) to create an evidence-based model to support these people. Our company is constantly fighting to close the supply and demand gap. 18|www.insightscare.com August 2022
Changing Role of Health IT Leaders T everyday operations. he healthcare sector has undergone several changes in the past few years, realizing the need to incorporate technological advancements into its shift the way they work. A Harvard study, however, has found that some of HIT leaders are equipped with forward-thinking processes, moving forward with changing roles and expectations within the healthcare sector. However, these advancements are still slower and growing more complicated in comparison to other fields, such as business. Despite the sector's continuously drawing investments in health information technology (HIT), its implementation often fails. Let's have a look at how HIT leaders are incorporating flexibility into their day-to-day operations. Attending to such a concern, the 2020 Journal of Public Health points out that "poor leadership" is a major cause for health to lag behind in digital maturity. Most traditional HIT leaders have one foot in the traditional space and the other foot in the future. Although they have been working hard to align themselves with the organization's goals, they still lag behind in the digital business realm. Emphasis on Patient Engagement Chrissy Daniels, in a Press Ganey report, agreed with the idea that technology could be the key tool in patient re-engagement. As there has been greater competition within the healthcare sector, priority towards a positive patient experience has been given, which would in turn attract their patients. The challenge remains -- how do they ensure that the health digital records are being used to their best advantage? With such a moving direction, health IT leaders are attempting to identify the right set of resources that could bring about a better patient outcome. Alongside the use of For the healthcare sector to effectively implement IT into its operations across its domains, HIT leaders may have to 20|www.insightscare.com August 2022

Responding to Challenges telehealth, they are investing in the direction of greater convenience, such as remote patient monitoring or automated appointment scheduling. The changing roles of health IT leaders have required them to be more practical, disciplined, and act quickly towards the implementation of an efficient digital health system. On such a note, they demonstrate the following behaviors on a regular basis: However, health IT leaders must ensure that they make the right investments in order to have an impact on the global healthcare transformation. Craig Richardville, a health IT leader, points out in her interview that there is a difference between innovation and imitation. While the healthcare sector could improve its success with imitative measures, innovation will allow it to drive forward with its mission. Engaging with the CEO: Since the health IT leaders are leading the digital initiatives of the healthcare sector, they often engage with the CEO directly. This allows them to keep upgrading their infrastructure for digital transformation. Ÿ Hence, health IT leaders are embracing their journey to select innovative digital measures in order to drive the business forward. They have the courage to embrace the given opportunity, fail and learn from it, further moving on to another useful approach, hence improving flexibility and adaptability towards technological change. Seeking External Partners: For the health IT leaders to ensure that the implementation costs are reduced with the right technology infrastructure to be installed, they collaborate with the right technology experts. This allows them to ensure that their digital health systems are stable and secure enough for maximum efficiency, giving them a competitive edge within the healthcare sector. Ÿ Data Security Kisha Hawthorne, a health IT leader working at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, pointed out that the country has been facing a rising number of malicious attempts such as phishing scams, password spraying, data breaches, and malware that have become a threat to existing cloud systems and technological advancements that the healthcare sector has been increasingly relying on. Wrapping Up Since there has been no operational area within the health system that does not involve both people and technology, Craig suggests that health IT leaders are playing a strategic role in rising challenges within the healthcare sector. They have more visibility across every aspect of the sector, be it the patient-facing area or corporate area. While healthcare providers are encouraged to connect with and engage their patients with innovative services and products, they are now carrying a risk associated with data privacy. In such regard, the health IT leaders are entitled to offer protection to the medical records of their patients, the medical records, and other confidential information that may act as a threat. The advancing role of health IT leaders is demonstrating their potential to achieve a broader view and break down barriers that exist in healthcare verticals. Today, due to the adaptability of health IT leaders, the healthcare sector is in a position to recruit talent from other verticals that exist outside the industry. Such a change will allow the sector to indicate and seek a broader perspective on ways the industry could improve for the better. For instance, a cyber security report pointed out that in the year 2020, approximately 36 billion records were exposed to data breaches. Since then, in order to improve data security, health IT leaders have been improving data collection and analytics while turning to external vendors for their assistance. It is through their help do could that cloud security be managed. In the coming years, the rising level of technological sophistication could be better understood and implemented. Ischemic Stroke Attack Ÿ Surgery Ÿ Ischemic strokes occur when blood flow to the brain is blocked by a blood clot or fatty buildup known as plaque. They account for about 87% of all strokes. When there is a lack of oxygen and nutrients, the brain might begin to die within minutes. The tissues of the brain can expand when it is wounded, much like a bruise. If your brain is swollen a lot, there's a chance it'll put more pressure on other parts of your brain, causing more harm. You'll require a procedure called a decompressive hemicraniectomy if this is the case. This procedure entails opening a portion of your skull to allow the brain to grow outwards and relieve pressure. Types of Ischemic Stroke Thrombotic strokes Ÿ Hemorrhagic Stroke Ÿ They're caused by a blood clot that forms in an artery that supplies blood to your brain. This form of stroke is caused by high blood pressure, and it occurs when a blood vessel inside the skull swells or bursts, allowing blood to seep into the interior and parts of the brain. The arteries weaken as a result of high blood pressure, causing them to bulge or burst. Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and subarachnoid hemorrhage are the two kinds of hemorrhagic stroke (SAH). According to the American Stroke Association, hemorrhagic strokes account for around 13% of all stroke incidents. Embolic strokes Ÿ They occur when a clot originates elsewhere in your body and travels to your brain via blood arteries. It becomes caught there and prevents your blood from flowing. Causes of Ischemic Stroke Causes of Hemorrhagic Stroke Heart valve issues Ÿ Heart attack Liver problem Ÿ Ÿ Blood clotting Drug abuse Ÿ Ÿ Atherosclerosis Blood vessel problems Ÿ Ÿ Arterial dissection Head injury Ÿ Ÿ Atrial fibrillation High blood pressure Ÿ Ÿ Treatment of Ischemic Stroke Brain tumor Ÿ Thrombolysis Treatment of Hemorrhagic Stroke Ÿ Endovascular repair This treatment, sometimes called thrombolytic therapy, dissolves blockages in blood veins that restrict blood from reaching the brain. To dissolve or break up clots in the vessels, thrombolysis uses a medication called alteplase or recombinant tissue plasminogen activator. Ÿ This procedure entailed inserting a platinum-wire coil into the aneurysm via a catheter (a small, hollow tube). This 29|www.insightscare.com August 2022

Traits to Follow E?ective Leadership Sector not usually do. He also seeks mergers to influence and collaborate within his healthcare organization. in Healthcare eaders within the healthcare sector often keep up with bold choices that make them relevant. L Bernard Tyson, CEO, and a leader, demonstrated courage by making a pledge to seek housing for underserved people, taking responsibility for those things that health plans do Similarly, David Wichmann, CEO of UnitedHealth, chose to acquire DaVita Medical Group, which led to an expansion of the health plan's reach within the provider space. In a twenty-first century scenario, the healthcare sector has experienced a greater level of disparity between the needs of patients and the actual care given. Today, patients demand easier communication among their care providers, quick access, and high-quality outcomes. They desire to be treated as individuals and get a personalized experience. With changes in patient needs followed by significant workforce challenges and increased financial pressures it has sparked a need for a new era of leadership. It no longer runs through a single pane of glass, considering the complexities involved in the healthcare sector today. The leaders are required to adopt a new direction of thought 32|www.insightscare.com August 2022
and practice new skills to facilitate success and address the evolving needs of patients. Addressing the matter -- Carroll, a Cleveland Clinic Expert, pointed out that the demonstration of empathy is simply about emphasizing mutual respect, sharing commitment, and developing meaningful connections. For a leader to be able to develop a relationship with the team is less about time or space. It is more about being attentive to their emotions and needs at the moment. Let's dive into the traits that determine effective leadership today. Holding a Proactive Approach Customers' changing demands and expectations are becoming a core factor in the evolution of healthcare. On this note, effective leaders must be skilled at anticipating their needs and demonstrating customer-centric thinking. When she surveyed a number of executives on how they found their leaders to be, she got responses like, "They have been good listeners and supported me whenever I needed them." Consider Aristotle, a Greek philosopher who believed that leadership is about action and ethics. His philosophy could be agreed upon by skilled healthcare leaders who listen to their customers attentively, ask for feedback, and align their services accordingly. Effective leaders in the healthcare sector today are the ones who are able to empathize and connect with the team they lead. Continuous Learning This could mean that the leaders may have to shift their thinking and update their existing skills in alignment with customer-centric needs for the healthcare facilities to attain success. There is an urgency for healthcare leaders to invest in knowledge that would serve them in improving the healthcare sector. Take an instance where, according to Vox, 75% of medical communication still takes place through fax machines. Surprisingly, around 30% of the world's warehouse data comes from the healthcare industry. Even though there is a potential for an estimated $300 billion in cost savings annually, the healthcare industry is behind in the effective use of data analytics and technology. Effective leaders are able to prioritize customer needs by taking a proactive approach and orienting their strategy in a way that would allow them to promote value-based healthcare. This has been evident by an HFMA report that found that 53% of the leaders who had adopted a proactive approach achieved great success in their initiatives, in comparison to 32% of those leaders who were reactive instead to the customer needs. In a 2019 article, Rizk suggested that the essential skill for a healthcare leader is to be technology aware. Being able to take advantage of emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning is crucial at this point of healthcare evolution. Demonstrating Empathy "It seems like you are going through something. How can I help you? "—Empathy is a natural part of healthcare leadership today. Effective leaders frequently practice the skill of demonstrating empathy, which is essential to improving quality within a healthcare organization. Competent leaders often engage in the skill of continuous learning within different sectors of the field, for instance, technology, that enables them to faster and more effective diagnoses along with lower risk treatments, hence progressing towards value-based care. Paradoxically, even though advancing leaders understand how empathy could be useful, they are still resisting such an idea in practice. They are concerned that empathy requires a lot of effort. Wrapping Up As suggested by a Healthcare Executive article, in order to be an effective leader in the healthcare environment today, one must have courage, collaboration on a greater scale, and personal commitment toward the employees. They explain their inability to express empathy in the following way: "But I can't agree with everyone." If such a leader is unable to keep up with these areas, then he may be considered irrelevant to the growth of the healthcare sector. "I don't have time to be nice to everyone I meet." - Saloni Agarwal 34|www.insightscare.com August 2022

She iterates, “The future of healthcare is going to be remote care. The classic doctor-patient face-to-face appointment will be only necessary for server cases. A caring relationship will be established between the patients and the software or the app they are using. Although communication will be easy during and after the doctor's appointment, the lack of human interaction might discourage patients from reporting any symptoms.” Inspired to start a preventative care platform due to the lack of health-related knowledge among the community, Hasna understood that the attitude of seeking healthcare consultation only in case of emergency could not be a progressive way ahead.
