  1. Chapter 3 Jordan Bennett Josh Arend

  2. Colorado Springs • The beginning of the chapter is a detailed description of the city of Colorado Springs. Schlosser describes how fast food franchises have saturated the city, which was once a rustic and idealistic American township.

  3. Teens in the Workplace • Schlosser explains how the majority of the workforce in the fast food industry is made up of teenagers. They are given as little training as possible and paid minimum wage. • Since there is a virtually constant supply of teens eagerly seeking employment, the employees are seen as expendable and often abused in the workplace.

  4. Unions Fast food establishments are vehemently opposed to workers unions. They keep their employees fragmented to prevent them from organizing, and use an army of lawyers to destroy any attempts to form a union. The fast food business relies on an obedient, cheap labor force who will work under any circumstances presented to them.

  5. Violent Crime • Fast food establishments are one of the most susceptible targets for violent crimes, particularly robberies. • They are usually robbed by current or former employees, who exploit the young workforce and poor security measures.
