  1. Preparing for Advanced Algebra Identifying the domain and range of a function, factor by taking out a GCF, factoring difference of two squares. Factoring trinomials with leading coefficient of 1, and not 1. Peter Nicieja, Sal Palazzolo, Marco Martinez, Pat Gorniak

  2. Vocabulary • Relation – A set of ordered pairs. • Domain – A set of the x-coordinates. • Range – A set of the y-coordinates. • Quadrants – The 4 sections of a coordinate plane. • GCF – The biggest # or the most amount of variables we can divide each term by evenly. • Leading Coefficient - # in front of a variable eith the largest exponent.

  3. Important Info • FOIL- First, outer, inner and last. • Foiling polynomials is the same thing as above. • Fundamental counting principle- if M can occur ‘m’ amount of ways and then N can occur a ‘n’ amount of ways then it can occur ways • Determine congruency. • Pythagorean theorem- in right angle triangles,

  4. Identify Domain and Range, and whether it’s a function • (1,2) (5,6) (7,2) (3,-5) D: {x: 1,3,5,7} R: {y: -6,-5,2} yes 2) D: {x:-4,1,7 } R: {y:2,6,10,11 } no 1 -4 7 2 6 10 11

  5. More problems 3) A D: {x: -5,-4,1,3} R: {y: -5,-2,2,4} yes B C D

  6. Use Foil or Box Method 4) (3x-2) (4x-1) 5) (5x+4)^2 or (5x+4) (5x+4) 12x^2 + 3x - 8x - 2 25x^2+20x+20x+16 12x^2 - 5x - 2 25x^2+40x+16 6) (2x+1)^3 or (2x+1) (2x+1) (2x+1) 4x^2+4x+1 (2x+1) 8x^3+4x^2+8x^2+4x+2x+1 8x^3+12x^2+6x+1

  7. More problems 7) (7x+2) (x^2+4x-5) 7x^3+28x^2-35x+2x^2+8x-10 7x^3+30x^2-27x-10
