Overview • What is OPC? • OLE for Process Control • The Yaskawa OPC Server is a software application that enables Ethernet communication between any OPC Client and the MP2000Siec. • OPC server allows the OPC Client to read and write variables to and from the controller to visualize or control the running processes. • The OPC Server can be started either automatically by an OPC Client or manually.
How is OPC used? • OPC allows the designer to create a PC based HMI to the MP2000iec • VB, C++, etc. • OPC allows the designer to link the MP2000iec to their existing software process control that supports OPC • Think ‘n Do • Steeplechase • Wonderware, RSView , Labview
What do I need to use OPC? • Software platform that supports OPC • OPC is Windows technology • ProConOS OPC Server 2.1 • One development version supplied with each copy of MotionWorks IEC • Licensed copy must be purchased for each machine installation • Any OPC Client software • Kepware • Advosol Link to “OPC.OUT.PCOS.21”
Getting started… • Install the OPC server to the target PC ProConOS OPC-Server 2.1 Desktop_build99.exe
Configure the OPC server • Run: OPCConfig.exe
Test the OPC • A test client comes with Yaskawa’s OPC Server • Run: OPCClient.exe
