Goal and Purpose Goal: • To develop guidelines to enhance access to digital devices Rationale • Increases access to available resources for all students • Promotes Digital Citizens • Prepares students for 21st Century Workforce

Guidelines for Students • Personal Equipment – Definition • Defined to include portable communication devices, including but not limited to beepers, walkie-talkies, personal digital assistants, tablets, cellular telephones, laptops, and other computing devices. • Also include any new technology developed for similar purposes.
Guidelines for Students • Possession, Display and Use • Possess, display and use Personal Equipment before, during, or after the instructional day only as set forth in this guideline. • Privileges may be revoked to possess or use the Personal Equipment for violation of this guideline.
Guidelines for Students • Possession, Display and Use • Use for instructional purposes as defined and supervised by the classroom teacher or administrator. • Students shall not display, or activate Personal Equipment during class time unless specifically given permission by a teacher or school administrator.
Guidelines for Students • Possession, Display and Use • Used at before- or after-school activities provided they do not interfere with the school activities and use conforms to directives of the school administration. • Evidence of unlawful or disruptive use will result in disciplinary action according to the Discipline Guidelines as specified in the Code of Student Conduct and/or reports to law enforcement authorities.
Guidelines for Students • Internet access is filtered • Access is a privilege • Student access is controlled by administration
Rationale • To enable students to use mobile devices in a way that enhances their learning. • Prepare students to be career and college ready.
