  2. A NETWORK A communication system consisting of a group of broadcasting stations that all transmit the same programs

  3. LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN) A local computer network for communication between computers; especially a network connecting computers and word processors and other electronic office equipment to create a communication system between offices. Example: used in offices, houses etc.

  4. WIDE AREA NETWORK (WAN) A group of connected local area networks (See LAN) spanning a large geographical area, such as a city or country.

  5. Virtual LAN (VLAN) A group of hosts with a common set of requirementsthatcommunicate as if theywereattached to the samebroadcastdomain, regardless of theirphysical location

  6. Wireless LAN (WLAN) A network that uses wireless transmissions such as radio or infrared to provide communication services betweendevices

  7. HOME NETWORK A home network or home area network (HAN) is a residential local area network. It isused for communication between digital devicestypicallydeployed in the home, usually a smallnumber of personal computers and accessories, such as printers and mobile computingdevices.
