  3. Individual work – 10 min Read ´Anthem for Doomed Youth´ or ´Counter-Attack´ carefully (one poem each in your pairs). Think about the manner in which your poem is written. Focus your analysis: • What kind of relationship do you think the poet wishes to establish with the reader? • Comment on the tone, mood and atmosphere created in each poem. • How does the poet use language to create tone? What are the connotations of particular words?

  4. Pair work – 10 min • Present your ideas to your partner using clear language and structure your thoughts. You should be aiming to talk for five minutes each.
