Characterization One character that has an affect on Holden’s life is Stradlater. According to the book Stradlater is a handsome and conceited person, he is a person that always looks in the mirror and can’t stop looking. Pg. 26 “ He always walks around in his bare torso because he thinks he has a da** good build”. He affects Holden’s because Stradlater is basically a bully to Holden, he makes him do his homework for him and if he doesn’t do it right he would offend him by putting him down.
Favorite scene Ruben Sally: “ Stop screaming. Are you drunk?” Holden: “ Yea. Listen hey I’ll come over Christmas Eve. Okay? Trimma g%* d@!# tree for ya. Okay? Hey Sally” Sally: “ Yes go to bed now. Where are you? Who’s with you? This is my favorite scene because to me it’s hysterical to watch an intoxicated person making himself or herself look like an idiot in public or in front of a friend. Pg.151
Favorite Scene Lanette Holden: “I’m not going away anywhere. I changed my mind. So stop crying and shut up.” This is my favorite scene because this is where he realized he needed to except the past and stop running. Mostly because he was hurting his sister. Pg. 207
Holden’s Dog Poop There were many things that could be considered as holden’s dog poop, but the problem that most affected him and that he tries to hide is the pain with all the intoxocating liquor that he drinks hoping it will go away, but it doesn’t. “Allie don’t let me disappear. Please Allie.” Pg. 198
Symbolism A symbolization in the book is Allie’s baseball mitt. His baseball mitt symbolizes all the innocence and joy his brother brought. It also symbolizes the way his brother was kind, intelligent, and creative. Another symbol is the ducks in the pond. He keeps worrying where the ducks go in the winter time, he worries because, like his brother, the ducks are innocent and he wants to protect them because he was unable to protect his brother.

Statement of Value Ruben*I learned that if you grieve over something, try to forget the past because if your miserable, the people around you are miserable. Lanette* I learned that even if bad things happen in life you shouldn’t give up. Running away solves nothing. But you make mistakes to learn. Phoebe had to cry and beg for him to take her with him for him to realize he needed to grow up.
