  1. EABC Energy GroupAn Industry Forum Supporting the Work of the US –EU Energy Council Mission Statement The EU and US Government have strategic, multi-facetted worldwide energy policies and goals. Some of these issues will be dealt with by the US-EU Energy Council. The mission of the EABC Energy Group is to provide regular, strategic, and focused policy briefings to the principals and staff of the US-EU Energy Council.

  2. EABC Energy GroupUS-EU Energy Council Briefings • In 2009 the US-EU Energy Council was created to address key strategic energy goals through enhanced US-EU government and industry collaboration. • EABC aims to serve as a key business partner in these discussions informally, as well as through more formal industry-government energy policy briefings. • As a result in part of EABC input to the Council in 2010, the following language was included in the US-EU Energy Council’s November 2010 press release: “We directed the Energy Security Working Group to consider issues related to Nigeria and to encourage the Nigerian government to use its oil and gas resources to promote economic development to the long-term benefit of the nation, while sustaining a positive investment climate and protecting the environment. Toward those ends, we urged the use of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and of other mechanisms to improve transparency and accountability in the oil and gas sector. We noted the importance of power sector reform to enhance access to electricity for Nigeria’s citizens.”
