Benefits of Gmail No Spam (or very little…) Individual account storage: 7500MB (7.5 GB) Accessible from anywhere on Internet Connection No time limits or user limits Global lists available – for the ENTIRE faculty. More Benefits…Google Apps • Google Calendar: • Calendar is seamless, easy-to-use and can be shared with others. • Google Docs: • Collaborative tools for you and your students including Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Presentations and Forms (Surveys) • Gmail for Students: • Gmail for students coming in September for students in Grades 6-12. last updated by F. Migration from First Class to GmailCritical Differences • Features that are NOT available in Gmail: • “History”, • “Unsend” • Auto Log-out …ANYONE who signs onto your computer can get into your Gmail account if you do not log-out. Do not check “Stay signed in” • Storage only limited by size (7500MB) not time. • “News” folder will be replaced with Global Staff list. last updated by F. Kompar on 5/6/11

How Do We Log-In? • Our URL (web address) is: • http://www.google.com/a/greenwich.k12.ct.us • You will use your current email address, i.e., John_Smith@greenwich.k12.ct.us - you’ll be given a generic password that will need to be changed after the first log-in. • First time users will need to read the Terms of Use Agreement, Complete it and Accept it. • That’s it…you are now able to use Gmail and the other Google App collaborative tools. last updated by F.   6. Tasks Before Migrating to Gmail • Go through First Class inbox and delete/read/act upon all email. Your emails in the current First Class system will NOT be migrated to the new Gmail account. • Save, print or export Contacts to recreate in Gmail Contacts Personal Mail Lists • Export or delete Folders/Email in Folders • Export, save or print Calendars to recreate in Gmail last updated by F.
