  1. Zyrtec Tablet – Usage & Side Effects Drug Uses Zyrtecis an antihistamine. Antihistamines prevent sneezing runny nose, watering of the eyes, and itching, and other allergic symptoms. Zyrtec is used to treat hives, allergies, and other allergic inflammatory diseases. How Taken Zyrtec comes as a tablet to use it orally. It has to be taken once a day. It may be taken daily or when allergy symptoms flare-up. Follow the prescription label carefully and if you do not understand, ask your doctor or pharmacist for further clarification. Take Zyrtec exactly as directed. You should not take more often than the prescription label and don’t take more or less than prescribed. Warnings/Precautions Before taking this medication, Discuss your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. You may need a lower dose or special monitoring during your treatment with Zyrtec. Zyrtec is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take Zyrtec without discussing your doctor if you are pregnant. Do not take Zyrtec without consulting your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. If you are over 60 years of age, you may be more likely to feel side effects from Zyrtec. You have to take a lower dose of this medicine. Missed Dose If you skip taking a dose, do not take an extra tablet to catch up for the dose you forgot. Wait and use your next dose at the regular time. Do not take more tablets than your doctor recommended. Possible Side Effects Stop taking Zyrtec if you have experienced an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives. additionally, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Zyrtec after discussing with your doctor if you feel sleepiness, dizziness or fatigue; headache or dry mouth. Side effects other than those noted here may also occur. Speak to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is particularly bothersome.
