  4. Thesaurus Gives a list of words that mean the same. synonyms Gives a list of words that mean the opposite. antonyms

  6. Almanac • A book that contains facts and information. • It is published yearly and usually very current.

  10. An encyclopedia is: • A set of books that contain information about different subjects. • Because all of the information cannot be put in one big book, the information is put in smaller books called… • volumes

  11. Volumes are: • Arranged in alphabetical order to make it easier to find the information. • Have a number on the spine to make it easier to put them in order on the shelf.

  12. On the pages: • Information is arranged in alphabetical order- like a dictionary. • You will see guidewords at the top- like a dictionary.

  13. On the page… • The subjects are usually printed in large, dark letters. • Lots of subjects can appear in one page.
