  1. How to find books for Dr. Richard’s Corrections Course By Ben Amata

  2. Type in your topic: mothers in jail

  3. None of these four titles appear to be on this topic. What are some other terms that might be useful? • Perhaps incarcerated mothers

  4. This search seems to retrieve better results. • If we examine the first record, we can note that it has a subject or concept that deals with our topic. • It is Children of women prisoners

  5. If we click on the subject in the record it actually will perform a search for us. • We can do a search on the whole subject by going to the search box and eliminating in this case the subheading united states.

  6. So now we know there are 4 titles with the subject: Children of women prisoners – United States • And 2 additional titles with just the general heading: Children of women prisoners

  7. You can always do a keyword search to find something on a topic then look at the subject headings to see if there is more material using a concept rather than keywords. • You can always ask for assistance by going to the reference desk or calling it at 278-5673.
