TheMischievous Puppy By Nikki Bonett February 2011
Mike and Alexia were packing. Runner’s eyes were wide open and staring at a big basket full of scrumptious food.
Runner was the children’s naughty puppy. He was always getting into some sort of mischief. Once he dropped a whole tea-set on the floor while looking for his favouritelost bone. Another time he discovered a yellow, grey and black pencil. He chewed on it till it broke into pieces.
When the children had their backs turned and were looking at a map that was meant to help them find their way to the forest, the tiny and hungry puppy peered in the basket, stole some sandwiches and gobbled them up instantly. Then a cake went in and so did the water and fizzy drinks. Runner was full but he started jumping up and down, just like a spring. He then jumped into the basket. The children picked up the basket, said their goodbyes and left.
As they made their way to a clearing in the forest, Mike was humming to himself and Alexia was playing with doodle stringsand chewing some gum.
As soon as they arrived, they dropped onto the fresh, green grass. Alexia was smelling flowers and Mike was opening the basket when the puppy jumped out and started chasing his short tail. When the children looked in the picnic basket all they found were crumbs and an empty flask.
I’m quite sure that Runner wasn’t ashamed and anyway, why should he be? After all, he is only a mischievous Labrador puppy!
