  4. Causes of the crises • Inadequately development financial services sector • Lack of control and sufficient regulations in capital market • The drop of local currency against US dollar • Weakening Economic performance and balance of payment difficulties

  5. Causes of the crises • Inappropriate borrowing by the private sector • Excessive lending by bank • Currency speculation • Lack of confidence in the ability of the government to resolve their problems successfully

  6. Impacts on markets and firms • Sharp reductions in value of currencies, stock market and other asset prices of several Asian countries. • Many businesses collapsed • Lower interest and inflation rates • Reduced export (by 12% in 1998) • Increased Import

  8. Conclusion According to the research, The Asian financial crisis shows the experience of Asian countries and it also reflects the financial crisis of the world. Overall, Asian financial crisis is caused by the drop of currencies value in Asian country. However, there was rapid recover in a short term after the crisis.
