  2. James Scotty Philip was born on April 30, 1858 in Scotland. • In 1874 James moved to Kansas following his older brother George, after that he moved to South Dakota after hearing about the discovery of gold. South Dakota Kansas

  3. James married Sarah Sally Larribee and happily had 10 children and 7 lived. Their names were Emma, Olive, Hazel, Clara, Stanley, Roderick, & Annie.

  4. James lived in Nebraska before he lived in South Dakota. • He also was an army scout and dispatch rider.

  5. James died of a disease in the brain at the age of 53. • Shortly before his death he had built a cemetery. • He buried his children in the placeof their death.

  6. James Scotty Philip was best remembered for success in saving buffalo from extinction in this country. • James bought a buffalo herd which had been owned by Fred Dupree.
