SANDHURST COMPETITION 2013 Marksmanship
Overview (1 of 2) • The Sandhurst Marksmanship Competition is a comprehensive assessment of the Squad’s ability to fight with their rifles. The Competition incorporates multiple target arrays, combat relevant firing positions, and malfunction clearances. • Each Team will be presented with multiple target exposures from various target locations. • Each safety violation (after being warned once) will result in a DEDUCTION of 20 points. Inserting a magazine into the magazine well prior to arriving at the BP / Firing Line will result in automatic disqualification from the Sandhurst Marksmanship Competition. • All Teams will turn in any unused rounds at the end of their iteration (will be used as a tie breaker if needed). • Scoring results will be updated throughout the day as the Teams compete. • Teams will be ranked upon the completion of the Sandhurst Marksmanship Competition. Each Team’s Marksmanship score will contribute to the overall Sandhurst Competition score.
Overview (2 of 2) • Safety Violations: • Muzzle Awareness – Cadet is aware what is in front of, behind, and to the flanks of his / her target (example – individual ensures muzzle clears debris within BP prior to engaging targets). • Weapon Orientation – Cadet maintains a safe orientation of his / her weapon system while engaging targets and / or moving within the BP (i.e. does not flag others). • Weapon Status (Mechanical Safety) – Weapon remains on safe unless Cadet is actively engaging targets. Magazines are loaded and round is chambered only when Team has occupied the BP / Firing Line. • Hand Position – Finger remains outside of the trigger well until Cadet is actively engaging targets. • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – All Cadets will wear the following PPE: ballistic helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, and load bearing equipment. • Additional Safety Information – Any act that a Range Safety deems as unsafe may result in a warning and / or penalty.
