  1. Why Pathways? With Decent Home Partners Led by Solihull Community Housing Supported by LSC Driven by Employers (FHM and Mansells in particular)

  2. Started October 2004 • Secured Unit adjacent to existing College premises • Programme devised by FHM based on previous (in Rochdale) • College took to the LSC who agreed funding under ‘other provision’ • 13 week delivery programme

  3. Who is a Pathways student • Mainly 19+ but not exclusively • Some in receipt of job seekers • Varying degree of skills • All very keen to secure employment • Local marketing attracted local people • Excellent retention and completion

  4. Successes • Provision grown to include progression routes in Plastering, P&D, Brick, C&J • Accredited where required • Excellent job outcomes (but not necessarily with Partners) • Includes CSCS, working at heights, abrasive wheels, first aid etc.

  6. Results • 42% employed through the partnership • 21% found employment within the industry • 2 set up their own business • 17% continued in learning

  7. ILM Programme • Aimed at harder to reach • Employed by SCH • Good employer support for projects • Reviewed after each team

  8. The Future • 8 week delivery not 13 • Progression linked into Apprenticeships where appropriate • Development of new skills areas.
