Health[e]Foundation Thailand • 2004: first launch HIV[e]Education Chiang Mai • 2008: second training but evaluation showed need to translate the program in Thai language • January 2009: launch of program in Thai Health[e]Foundation
Pilot of HIV[e]Educationtraining program in collaboration with HIVNAT • Pilot sexuality education in schools in collaboration with Unilever Health[e]Foundation
Community[e]Education • New training program started in 2008 • Focus on prevention • Target group: community workers, teachers, counselors, peer educators, PLWH, family members and the community. • Flexible program that can be used in schools, universities, museums, workplaces and communities Health[e]Foundation
Community[e]Education in Thailand • Focus on sexuality and reproductive health education • Content is mainly for school children with tutorials for their teachers • HCW will be facilitators Health[e]Foundation
Sexuality Education in Thai schools • Government and many other organizations are conducting programsin schoolsregarding reproductive and sexual health education • MOE has sexuality education curriculum for schools • Path (NGO) training of teachers courses and monitors implementation of their programs in schools • Unesco is developing exhibition about sexuality and reproductive health in collaboration with science museum Health[e]Foundation
Sexuality[e]Education • Need for e-learning program in schools • Individual USB stick for school children (12-18 years old) Health[e]Foundation
Kid USB stick • Interactive stick with animations, cartoons, and games to explain about sexuality and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, treatment, treatment failure and safe sex. • Individual stick in combination with group discussions and exercises in class. Health[e]Foundation
Kid USB stick content • Animation film about HIV/AIDS (Bobo developed by the Web.foundation) translated in Thai with pre-and post questions • Animation of the book ‘Brenda has a dragon in her blood’ from Siam Care with pre-and post questions • Film with Barbie dolls (Thai version) about negotiation skills interrupted by question: “what would you do?” • Condom film made in collaboration with Condomerie Amsterdam (about male and female condoms) Health[e]Foundation

Classroom activities • Envelope game: all persons who want to be tested get an e-envelope. In class all persons with results have to stand up and say out loud what they have. How does that feel? • Ball game ‘hit ball’ (outside classroom): the person hit by the ball has STD or AIDS Health[e]Foundation
Advantages kid stick • Unique in Thailand and rest of the world • Thai organizations discussed e-learning: cheaper, less time and anonymous • USB stick with H[e]F IT platform is a solution • Many of the country specific parts will be developed in cooperation with other organizations (MOE, Path, UNESCO) • Hands-on lesson plans and guidelines for teachers/HCW Health[e]Foundation
