Relevant Labor Market • Spatial Dimension of concept of availability • SMSA -- Census data • geographic area from which persons can reasonably expect to be hired -- nat. / reg. / local • reasonable recruitment area • local community patterns • differs for professional vs. clerical vs. bluecollar job • “accepted commuting norms” -- transit availability, physical barriers, economic conditions
