Five levels of organization • Each partner group is going to be given a zip lock baggies. • Inside that envelop are strips of paper with different parts of the human body. • You need to organize them from the least complex to the most complex.
Five layers of organization • Cells -> tissues -> organs -> organ systems -> organisms
Cell specialization • Do all cells do the same thing? • NO! Specialized cells perform specific jobs. • For example, a red blood cell carries oxygen to the lungs.
Homeostasis • The process which a living organism maintains a balanced internal environment to stay alive is called homeostasis.
Homeostasis lab • Take your pulse • I’m going to be timing you for 10 seconds. Once those 10 seconds is up, you’ll be multiplying that number by 6. • Record it into the table that we drew.
