11. St. Tammany ParishSales Tax Jail Sales Tax – Dedicated to the construction & operations of Parish Jail facilities
Justice Center Sales Tax – Dedicated to the construction & operations of the Justice Center Complex
Both these taxes are projected to have a 6.5% decline in 2009. We have tightened our belts to keep expenditures within income.
Sales Tax District 3 is dedicated to roads, streets & drainage in unincorporated St. Tammany Parish. We are projecting to close 2009 with a 12.5% reduction in revenue. We did, however, anticipate a reduction. We held off bidding and awarding capital projects from this fund until July 2009, when we had a solid revenue projection.
Luckily, construction prices were also lower at that time. This allowed us to contract for all proposed projects for the year even with the revenue reduction.

15. Road ProjectsFunded By Federal Recovery Act (ARRA)for 2009-2010 Construction The Americans Reinvestment and Recovery Act came at time when St. Tammany Parish was prepared to take full advantage of the plan.
Because we were working on the 2005 10-Year Infrastructure Plan, we had a number of projects that were ready for construction, a prime requirement of the Federal Act.
10 of 18 regional projects are taking place in St. Tammany.
This funding helps achieve our 10 year infrastructure plan and allows local tax dollars to be used for additional projects.
