CE formerly “Co-op” Career Experience

This program offers students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while earning credits. Students learn important job skills, teamwork, technology, communication, punctuality, and reliability. They also develop organization and time management skills. Students are responsible for finding a job or volunteer site, obtaining transportation, and maintaining a good work ethic. The course covers understanding the workplace, employee benefits, paychecks and deductions, college preparation, scholarship applications, income taxes, personal finance, and budgeting.

  4. Develop Organization & Time Mgt Skills • Work schedule: avg. 15 hrs/week at a job • or completing volunteer hours with a signature from the supervising adult • Co-op class schedule • Job Training Block IV - student leaves campus • Class meets 3 time per week

  5. Student Responsibilities • Adhere to Co-op scheduling • Follow procedures • Record hours worked/ volunteer with signature of supervising adult • Turn in timecard on designated dates throughout quarter

  6. Student Responsibilities • Obtain a Job “Training Site” • Obtain transportation to and from job

  7. Student Responsibilities • Keep the Job • exemplify excellent employee characteristics • exemplify good work habits and a pleasant attitude • Job or Volunteer Supervisor grades the student for the course grade.

Coursework • Understanding the workplace • Employee benefits • Understanding your paycheck and deductions • Chapter Tests, Essays, Projects, Presentations • Preparing for College • Applying for scholarships • Understanding & completing Income Taxes • Personal Finance • Monthly Personal Budget, Credit…

  9. Money Earned Student earns at least $390/month gross pay or maybe $3,900 per school year ($7.25 x 15 hrs/week)

  10. Attend school part-time; work part-time • Year-long Vocational (ATC) Course • Earn 2 credits • Seniors only
