Outline Coverage : Chapter 1 to Chapter 6 (mainly) • Overview – Networking and Internet Basis (5~6 hrs) • Concepts, Protocols and P. stack, Layering, Transmission media, Switching technology, Delay and loss, Internet overview, RFC • Application Layer Protocols (3~4 hrs) • Principles and Protocols: FTP, HTTP, SMTP, POP3, DNS*, Socket programming concept (brief+self testing) • Data Link Control Protocols (6 hrs) • HDLC, PPP, SLIP, LLC (Logical Link Control)*, Error detection and error control, LANs (brief)*, • Medium Access Control Protocols (7~8 hrs) • MAC schemes, Ethernet Technologies: E./Fast E./Gigabit E.*, Encoding schemes, Hub operation, Switched network, others CN - Outline
