Original Aboriginal art created by the Indigenous people of Australia was made with paints made of organic colors and materials. Often times the pigment (coloring) was made using Ochre, which is a finely textured rock made up of iron oxide. This gives it an brown/orange coloring. Alice Springs by Judy Kunmanara
Many times you will see symbols in Aboriginal art. Here are some examples: The most current style of Aboriginal art is dot painting. This often masks some of the symbols that the Aboriginal people don’t want others to know about.
