Rylee, Matt, Michael and Alexis. The Endocrine System. We are the endocrine system and our main functi0n is to release hormones throughout the blood stream. The endocrine system includes the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, pancreas, ovaries, and testes.

  2. The Endocrine System • We are the endocrine system and our main functi0n is to release hormones throughout the blood stream. • The endocrine system includes the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland, pancreas, ovaries, and testes.

  3. The thyroid gland :] • I am the thyroid gland and I work with cells. • My job in the body is to make hormones , I control how the body uses energy, I make proteins, and I control how the body is affected by other hormones. • One disease of my organ is hyperthyroidism.

  4. Parathyroid Gland • I am the Parathyroid Gland. • The parathyroid’s main function is to maintain the calcium levels. • I work with the nervous and muscular system. • One disease is parathyroid cancer.

  5. The Pituitary Gland • I am the Pituitary Gland. • I secretes and store hormones which is used to stimulate other glands. • I work with the kidney • One disease is adenoma.

  6. Adrenal Gland • I am the adrenal gland. • My main function is to produce hormones to regulate the body’s reaction to stress • I work with the heart and lungs • One disease is Adrenal Insufficiency

  7. Pancreas • I am the pancreas • My main function is to increase and decrease blood sugar levels • I work with the duodenum, or beginning of the small intestine • One disease is pancreatic cancer

  8. Ovaries • I am the ovaries • My main function is to create the eggs and secrete the females hormones • I work with the females reproductive system • One disease is polycystic ovary syndrome

  9. Testes • I am the testes • My main function is to create the sperm cells • I work with the males reproductive system • One disease is testicular cancer

  10. Our Job • We work with cells to tell them when to grow or to develop • We work with and produce hormones

  11. Why the H.B.C needs us • We produce your hormones • They tell your cells what do to do and when. • Without the endocrine system your body wouldn’t know when to grow! • Without us you couldn’t reproduce
