CA DPN Program Objectives • Create systemic change by making One-Stops a more welcoming place for persons with disabilities • Increase both physical and programmatic service access • Create attitudinal change related to the ability of persons with disabilities to work • Develop new/ongoing partnerships to expand available services • Expand & enhance services to better meet the needs of all customers. • Increase the number of people with disabilities accessing WIA services, including quality employment outcomes.

A Promising Practice for those areas with & without a DPN. 30-Second Trainings
What are 30-Second Trainings? A 30-Second Training is a quick fun Power Point slide show that is electronically sent out and can be completed in a very short amount of time hence, 30-Seconds Trainings.
They provide disability and employment information usually with a resource link for those that are interested in furthering their knowledge and expertise. 30-Second Trainings are designed to be fast, informative and entertaining to capture the attention of busy One-Stop staff, partners and/or employers. • 30-Second Training topics cover a wide-range of disability and employment issues in a way that is easy to process and that leads the end-user to a reputable internet resource where they can find additional information on the topic when they have the time or the need to access it. They can be used to either introduce topics and information for the first time, or to reinforce information that has already been presented in a formal presentation. While it can be used as a stand-alone training, it is even better when used to augment other training.
Who benefit from 30-Second Trainings? • 30-Second Trainings have been utilized all over the United States including Alaska, Puerto Rico and Guam and in every capacity. • Agencies and Employers are able to train their staff not only on disability/diversity issues but they are also able to use the 30-Second Trainings to enhance and expand on Customer Service, Labor Law, Safety topics and many more topics.

LETS HAVE SOME FUN…30-Second Training Compassion Fatigue Migraines Disability Survey
What is Compassion Fatigue? It is physical or emotional exhaustion that causes a decline in a person’s ability to experience compassion for others. Examples of people who are at risk are: counselors, mental health professionals, medical professionals, advocates and all who work in the human service field. Over time compassion fatigue leads to the person becoming emotionally drained and with little left to give others.
What can someone do to relieve Compassion Fatigue? Work harder and smarter including working through lunch. By accomplishing more, it will relieve the stress of not feeling competitive with co-workers. Self medicate Refocus on yourself! Take a vacation, get plenty of rest, cut out negative addictions/habits, participate in activities that make you happy.
Just Kidding! Compassion fatigue happens from doing just these things. Your focus gets completely away from you and is directed on figuring out ways to help others. It’s difficult to help others when you can’t or don’t help yourself. Let’s see if there’s a better answer!
I Don’t Think So!!! It is very important to focus on yourself and cut out negative addictions such as nicotine, alcohol and caffeine.
I knew you’d get it!!! It is important to have balance in your life. Be sure that there is a part of your life where you are taking instead of giving. Put yourself in situations where you see positives. Develop a plan that puts you first. Focusing on you will allow you to perform better and have a better relationship with others in your life. A computer programmer experienced migraines that were triggered by his overhead fluorescent lighting and the noise level around the office cubicles. What accommodation would be reasonable? Provide him with his own office and purchase him whatever lighting he prefers. Provide him with a noise canceling headset, disable the fluorescent light above his cubicle, and provide natural task lighting. Provide him with paid leave and allow him to depart whenever he has a migraine.
Good EffortBUTPlease Try Again An employer has to offer a reasonable accommodation that will meet the individuals needs. If there are alternative solutions to the problem, the employer may choose which one to provide. You may not insist on a specific accommodation because it suites yourpersonal preference.
Come on…You can do it! Although there are a variety of short term disability programs that can assist people who leave work for an extended period of time, this situation would likely warrant the use of sick time if available. Providing flexible unpaid leave once any benefit time was exhausted might be another accommodation for this situation.
Great Job! You got it, this is the best answer, and likely the best approach to accommodating this request. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best solutions.
