Main Text: Lamentation 5:1-13 • Why Build a Relationship? • To gain something from the person • Help – physical, financial, emotional, spiritual • Experience – years, area, • Intelligence/wisdom/knowledge • Defence • etc • To Know the person more • Get closer – stay around • Be watchful • Love what he/she likes • Don’t argue • obedience

Before Building a Relationship, you must know the person • Who is God? - John 4:23, 1 John 4:8,16 • Where is He? – Revelation 4:2-5 • What does He look like? –Exodus 24:10 • Why do I need to Build a Relationship with Him? –Psalm 24:1 • How can we exist with him? – 1 Corinthians 13:13 • How can we get His attention? – Psalm 42:2, 1 chronicles 13:3

  4. Relating with God • What drives God’s Passion? • Faith: • Belief in or Confidence – Hebrew 11,Gen 15: 6, Ex 4:31, 14:31 • Hope : • Act of hoping; Rom. 4:18 • The Thing Hoped for. Colossians. 1:5; 1 Peter. 1:3 • Ultimate hope : Psalm 39:7 • Love: • First Love ; John 3:16, Ephesians 3:9 • Everlasting – Jer. 31:3, • Sacrificial – John3:16 • Free – Hosea. 14:4 • Second Love: 1 John :19

  5. Daily Schedule to relate with God -Psalm 119:164 PRAISE • Act of Worship or acknowledgement • a. Between Human beings • Beneficial : 1 Peter 2:14 • Snare : Prov. 27:24 • b. God towards Human beings • Reflects a true servant’s Heart – Mathew 25:21, 1 Cor.4:5 • c. Man towards God • Expression of Joy to the Lord : Psalm 150:2

Daily Schedule to relate with God -Psalm 55:17 PRAYER • Faith – Must be from the heart: God speaks to us through the bible and we reply Him through prayers • Worship –Giving honour to whom honour is due, Guided by scripture • Isaiah 6:3 • Confession – Awareness of God’s Holiness leads to consciousness of our own sin – Isaiah 6:5, Ps 51:4. • We need to confess our sins before the Lord. • Adoration –God is Love and he has demonstrated His love – Mathew 22:37 • Praise – The natural outgrowth of faith – Psalm 150:2, Psalm 119:164 • Thanks giving – Ingratitude marks the ungodly – Col. 3:17; 1 Thess 5:18 • Dedicated Action : Rendering service to others in need in the spirit of prayer called Intercession – Isaiah 42:22 • Request - Petition

Relationship Strainers • Iniquity in our heart – Psalm 66:18 • Refusal to hear God’s law – Prov. 28:9 • An estranged Heart – Isaiah 29:13 • Sinful Separation from God –Isaiah 59:2 • Waywardness –Jer. 14:10-12 • Offering Unworthy Sacrifices – Malachi 1:7-9 • Praying to satisfy people – Mathew 6:5-6 • Pride in fasting and tithing – Luke 18:11-14 • Lack of faith – Hebrew 11:6 • Double mindedness – James 4:3

Relationship Enhancers • Helping the hungry and afflicted : 1saiah 58:9-10 • Believe that we receive – Mark 11:22-24 • When we Forgive –Mark 11:25-26 • Ask in Christ Name – John 14:13-14 • Abide in Christ and His words – John 15:7 • Pray in the Spirit – Ephesians 6:8 • Obey the Lords commandment – 1 John 3:22 • Ask according to His will – 1 John 5:14-15
