Case B2 Right Turn from Minor Road • Formula: • a= 14.5(ft) + 0.5 Lw • b= 1.47 Vmajortg • 14.5 is the distance from the decision point to the ETW • Lw is length wild • Vmajor is design speed on major road • tgis time gap for minor road vehicle to enter major road (second)
Case B2Right Turn from Minor Road • The time gap in case B-1 can be decrease by 1.0 s for the right turn maneuvers without undue interference with major-road traffic. The design values based on these adjusted time gaps are shown in Figure 3 for passenger cars. Figure 4 includes the design values for the design vehicle for each of the time gaps in Figure 2.
Case B2Right Turn from Minor Road • Example: • Given: Passenger Car, Single Unit Truck, Combination Truck. • Vmajor = 60mph • 2 lane road-way • 5% upgrade • Find: For case B2 find tg, a, b • Solution: • Governing Equation: • a= 14.5(ft) + 0.5 Lw(total) • b= 1.47 Vmajortg • tg(PC total) = tg(PC) + 0.1*5 • tg(SUT total) = tg(SUT) + 0.1*5 • tg(CT total) = tg(CT) + 0.1*5 • The Result can be calculated by using Excel. We can check the result of b base on Figure 3, 4.
