CAEP Accreditation and Standards Implementation • Raise the bar for educator preparation and, in turn, for student learning • Incorporate national peer review and stakeholder investment in quality assurance • Work closely with states on reform implementation

Standard 1: Content and Pedagogical Knowledge The provider ensures that candidates develop a deep understanding of the critical concepts and principles of their discipline and, by completion, are able to use discipline-specific practices flexibly to advance the learning of all students toward attainment of college- and career-readiness expectations.
Components of Standard 1 • There are 9 components to this standard that span the areas of: • Content and pedagogical knowledge (1 component), • Instructional practice (4 components), • The learner and learning (3 components), and • Equity (1 component)
