Park Ranger Duties and Responsibilities • Maintain and enforce the San Francisco Park Code, including parking violations • Support permitted events • Investigate criminal activity with the support of SFPD • Community policing • Assist people experiencing homelessness in collaboration with HOT and Park Stop Teams • Emergency medical response and first aid • Emergency preparedness and response within the DEM’s ICS structure • Lost and found management • Rec and Park employee injury and accident documentation

Reporting Issues to the Park Rangers • For non-emergency issues, use the 311 app or call 311 directly. • Requests are sent directly to the Park Rangers dispatch center • Allows photo uploads • Geotags the exact location • Allows city wide tracking for criminal trends • Easy to check the status of the repair
Safety Concerns And Who To Call • Call Park Ranger Dispatch for: • Suspicious people • Non urgent crimes/property damage/theft • Urgent safety issues or damage to a facility that could be a danger • Lost and found items • Park code questions • People experiencing homelessness • Call 911 for: • Medical emergencies • In progress crimes • Missing person's

Graffiti and Damage SLA's • Once graffiti or damage to a park is reported, the goal is to resolve it as soon as possible. • The Service Level Agreement (SLA) for graffiti is 2 business days for the evaluation, unless the graffiti is hate or gang related, which require an expedited response. Graffiti is then abated as soon as possible. • Damage to the park is "made safe" if necessary. Park repairs are evaluated within 2 business days (5 for pavement issues) and then completed based on the evaluation, time required to obtain supplies for the repairs, and time to complete the work.
Crime Prevention Tactics In an attempt to prevent criminal activity such as graffiti, illegal dumping, or arson the Park Rangers and the Department of Rec and Park: • Monitor each park and abate any issues as soon as possible • Conduct routine park inspections to identify any potential issues • Work with park planning to ensure the landscape supports inhibiting criminal activity • Conducts foot patrols and have fixed posts at critical areas for dedicated prevention measures • Working with other agencies, such as SFPD, HSOC, HOT Team and Park Stop Monitors, to address specific issues
CCTV Systems • Cameras are recording 24/7 at the Park Ranger Communications Center • Currently installed at 16 parks • Used to address crimes in progress and ensure assistance is dispatched to mitigate the situation • Assists in evaluating a safer tactical approach for Park Rangers and SFPD when responding to crimes in progress • Provides critical information/evidence during criminal investigations for the Park Rangers, DA's Investigators, and SFPD
