  3. What is the organisation‘Natuurpunt’? • It’s the largest nature conservationorganisation in Flanders& Brussels • It was created in the year 2001. • They have 160 localdepartments  groups of peoplewhowork in the nature reserves in theircommunity

  4. What is the organisation ‘Natuurpunt’? • Theyprotect nature by: • buyingpieces of land/nature • managing the nature in the nature reserves • education/raiseawarenessbypeople: • Schools • ActivitiesonSunday (promenades, workshops, …)

What is the organisation ‘Natuurpunt’? • The logo is a medievalsymbolfor the earth  Natuurpunt caresabout the earth, water, air and all living creatures • Their slogan: ‘Nature for all’  they want nature for all the people in Belgium, theytry to do thatbybuyingsmall/big pieces of nature in all the communities

  8. Is Belgian nature in danger? • YES! Belgian nature is in danger! • Belgium is a little country, withmanypeople, buildings and roads thereisn’t a lot ofnature • Biodiversityis going down! Because of polution, roadsgoingtroughthe nature reserves, … • Natuurpunt tries to buybigger nature reserves in Belgium, butthat’snot easy in a small country.

Do they have partners in otherEuropeancountries? • The first partner is Birdlife International: • an international organisation • organisation that tries to conserve birds and their habitats • They also work with Natuurmonumenten • a Dutch organisation • almost the same organisation as Natuurpunt, but then in the Netherlands

  11. How do theycooperate? • Natuurpunt & Birdlife International worktogetheron a project in Sumatra (anisland of Indonesia)  Theyalreadyboughtand protect100 000 hectares of rainforest!
