  1. Wolf Ridge By Hannah Rhee

  2. I Wonder I wonder what the bus ride to Wolf Ridge will be like. Will it have comfortable plush seats or will it be the opposite: Hard seats? I obviously prefer plush seats especially if it is a long ride. Will the ride be long or short? I hope the ride is short and fun. I wonder what the landscape will be like. From pictures I have seen so far Wolf Ridge looks really beautiful. I hope there will be a lake or river nearby and lots of trees. Will there be mountains or will it be flat? So far I haven’t seen a single mountain since I have been in Minnesota. In California as soon as you go on the freeway you see tons of mountains.

  3. I Wonder I wonder what the dorm will be like. Will it be heated and comfortable? Or will it be cold and hard to live in? I don’t have to say which one I prefer. I hope there will be time to shower because I don’t want to spend all day outside and not be able to shower. If we don’t it’s unbelievable! Imagine not being able to shower for a whole week!

  4. Lake Superior Did you know that Lake Superior is the biggest freshwater lake in the world by surface area? If you emptied out Lake Superior, you could cover all of North and South America in one foot of water. Lake Superior has 3 quadrillion gallons of water! The deepest point in Lake Superior is 400 meters below the surface. It holds 10% of the entire world’s freshwater. You could fit all of the other Great Lakes plus two more Lake Eries. Lake Superior is also the cleanest of all the Great Lakes.

  5. Lake Superior If you tried to walk along Lake Superior’s shore it would take you two days. Lake Superior is 31,700 square miles bigger than Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire combined. Lake Superior’s average temperature is 40 F. Lake Superior hasn’t completely frozen since 1979.

  6. My Favorite Class The wind blew the smoke towards me and it made my eyes watery and I turned my head away. I was sitting on a bench in front of a fire, weaving strips of wood that I had pulled off from a log. Above the fire was a pot with wild rice and boiling water. Some of my classmates were stirring the wild rice so it wouldn’t burn. We also made raspberry tea. To tell the truth I didn’t really like either of them but it was a cold day so something warm was nice. I was taking a class at Wolf Ridge called Ojibwa Heritage. At the beginning of class we hiked from the Education Building to the Ojibwa Site. Once we got there we took a look at the Ojibwas homes. We went into the summer home first. The summer home was made out of willow branches tied together so wind could blow through. After tat we went into the winter home. The Ojibwa name for it is nasawa’ogaan but the more commonly known word for it is teepee, the Dakotan word. Inside the teepee we sat on piles of spruce branches covered with blankets. Then we all changed our real names to Ojibwa names. I changed my name to Black Bunny.

  7. My Favorite Class After everyone had written their new name on a name tag, we went outside and tried to start a fire by hitting a flint stone against a piece of metal. No one succeeded except for Matt our teacher. After we got the fire going we cooked and ate the wild rice and tea. Then we went into the teepee again and Matt told us two legends; one about how the Ojibwa discovered fire, or ishkode, and how mosquitoes came to be. After that we hiked back to the dorm and there we ended the best class ever.
