NEW THIS YEAR… My Learning Plan (MLP) software to track professional development toward license renewal (replaces IPDP Management Suite)
EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES It is your responsibility, over the duration of your license, to: • engage in • monitor • document your professional development activities.
EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES • Know when your license expires. It will always expire on June 30thof your expiration year. • Understand the process of renewing your license.
EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES • You are responsible for accruing 180 seat hours /6 semester graduate credit hours/ 18 CEU’s of professional development during your license period (issuing date through expiration date). • Keep current with your hours--and submit them as you go.
GRADUATE CREDIT HOURS • 6 graduate semester hours are all you need! • Courses taken during the time frame of your license (issuing date through expiration date). • Sealed official transcripts should be sent to the Human Resources Office (you have to request from university). • Submit activity information in My Learning Plan.
SEAT HOURS WITH CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION • 180 seat hours are required. • Activities attended during the time frame of your license (issuing date through expiration date). • Certificate of Attendance. • Submit activity information in My Learning Plan.
NO TRANSCRIPT? NO CERTIFICATE?PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT LOG If you did not receive graduate credit or a certificate from a workshop/conference, a detailed log is necessary to document hours engaged in professional development activities. • Related activities engaged in over the course of the school year may be included in one log. • Working lunches and dinner may be awarded credit if specified in the log. • Submit activity information in My Learning Plan. • Related resources are located at Shaker.org on the LPDC page. http://www.shaker.org/LPDCLicenseRenewal.aspx
Provide specific details. Log hours in decimal form.
EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES • Use the LPDC website on the staff page of shaker.org for answers to common license questions. http://www.shaker.org/LPDCLicenseRenewal.aspx
LPDC RESPONSIBILITIES • Establish and abide by the procedures and timelines of the LPDC. • Communicate the procedures and timelines of the LPDC to all district certified/licensed employees. • Assist all district certified/licensed employees with the LPDC procedures and timelines. • Ensure that educators’ professional development activities meet the standards for licensure renewal. • Serve as liaisons between educators and the Ohio Department of Education.
WHAT MAY HAPPEN IF YOU ALLOW YOUR LICENSE TO EXPIRE • May impact your employment status. • May impact your pay. • May require extra seat hours/graduate credit hours/CEU’s for renewal.
MY LEARNING PLAN TRAINING DATES • TBA- there will be multiple options • EVERYONE MUST ATTEND A TRAINING
