The Big Question… • How successful was organized labor in improving the position of workers in the period from 1875 to 1900 ? Analyze the factors that contributed to the level of success achieved.
Your Thesis • To a certain extent, organized labor was successful in improving the position of workers in the last quarter of the 19th century; however, there were several obstacles including public opinion, employer opposition, and government intervention.

Your Thesis • From 1875 to 1925, the nation witnessed many labor upheavals due to labor issues and the rise of big unions. While the Knights of Labor were not very successful at improving the interests of workers due to their idealistic and more radical strategies, the American Federation of Labor was more successful because of their peaceful and pragmatic stance.
