  1. Number of Players–Law 3 • Maximum 11 Minimum 7 • Must have Goalkeeper • Player sent off before match can be replaced by named substitute • Player arriving late can join match with permission of referee (does not have to be during stoppage)

  2. Changing Goalkeepers • Referee informed of change • To occur during stoppage • If not told caution both players • New goalkeeper has goalkeeper rights whether change done properly or not

  3. Substitutes • Must be Nominated before match • Max of 7 named (subject to competition rules) • Up to 3 can play • Friendlies by agreement (else 3)

  4. Substitution Procedure • Referee to be informed • Only during stoppage • Takes place at Halfway Line • Player to leave before substitute enters • Replaced Player takes no further part in match

  5. Unauthorised Substitution • Stop play • Caution substitute • Substitute to leave field • Restart - Dropped ball if more than 11 players - Indirect free kick( where ball was ) for other infringements

  6. The Technical Area • Bench + 1m to each side and up to 1m from the touchline • Number of occupants set by competition rules • Only one can stand and coach • All must behave responsibly

  7. Fourth Official • Replaces injured official • Deals with admin – can show added time , but this is calculated by referee • Deals with substitutions • Informs referee of irresponsible behaviour by technical area
