Using a technology enabled learning platform to bridge University based teaching and children’s nursing practice.Something to share….. Julia Petty Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing School of Health and Social Work
What inspired me? • Innovative approaches to Teaching and Learning as seen by sharing of ideas from…. • HEA Technology enhanced learning conference, International Perinatal / Neonatal Nursing conference • An increased awareness of the need to teach specialty based knowledge to support nursing practice and the part that technology can have in this.
What did I do? http://www.herts.ac.uk/apply/schools-of-study/health-and-social-work/course-subject-areas/nursing/childrens-nursing/neonatal-nursing/_nocache http://www.cetl.org.uk/learning/neonatal/neonatal_care.html
Why did I do it? • To develop self-directed learning materials that are available for use by UH children's nursing students in the field of neonatal nursing practice • Due to the recognition of a need for self-directed / technology enabled resources to support both classroom and clinical teaching in healthcare.
What happened next? • ‘Articulate’ interactive resource undergoing ongoing dissemination and evaluation • ‘Google analytics’ used to monitor usage globally • UH micro-website being developed at present • Plans to disseminate web link to 1st and /or 2nd year children's nurses for evaluation to commence Sept 2014 • Julia Petty j.petty@herts.ac.uk
