  3. Before Mobile Phones • Car phones • A very small part of society could have them • Businessmen, people of high positions • Were quite costly • These people found that they needed the phone not just in the car • Led to mobile telephones

  4. Mobile Phones Before • Big • Long antennae • Used just as phones and a phonebook • Constantly needed charging • May not have even had a screen • Were still used mostly by the same people who had car phones

  5. Changes • Personalised ring tones • Coloured lights • Changeable covers • No antennae • Basic pictures • Text messages All of these seemed great changes at the time!!!

  6. Mobile Phones Now • Calling is just a feature of the many features of mobile phones • Camera • SMS, MMS • Information portal • Music player • Bluetooth • Games And many, many more features…

  7. What Can Be Done With Mobile Phones What a person can do with a mobile phone nowadays is just a never-ending list, which is constantly growing. Some of the things: • Surf the Internet – 3G / WAP / GPRS • Check e-mail • Use messenger features (msn, yahoo, aol etc..) using e-messenger

  10. The Future of Mobile Phones • Facilities on mobiles are ever-increasing • It is said that mobiles will become like PCs – you will be able to custom-build your own mobile • The two worlds are coming closer and closer together. • May eventually replace computers (I doubt it)
