Computing for Development recently hosted a team from Barclays Bank Kenya. The lab which undertakes prototyping and innovative startup showcased their innovations. Among the innovations presented was Chura, Intelligent traffic, Rockesci, Tevatand Ideal Animations. The team was particularly drawn to animations and immediately noted its effective incorporation in the introduction of new products in the banking sector. They also recognized the brilliant ideas fostered in the lab and urged the C4DLab innovators to focus on commercializing their ideas. The team from Barclays also expressed their interest to partner with C4DLab in the future. Over the year, Barclays Bank has fostered a growing relationship with the University of Nairobi and this was highly appreciated by the principal, Prof. B. Aduda. CHURA is an application that aims to ease the difficulties users experience in accessing services across different mobile service providers. The services provided include switching airtime between networks and exchanging airtime for money. Intelligent traffic incorporates an intelligent traffic device that will assist motorists adhere to traffic rules; while RockeSci, is a science platform that gets kids interested in science at a very young age.
