  4. Alternative Water Sources • Desalination • Removing salt and minerals to ensure it is safe for human consumption • Surface water run-off from snow melt

  5. Salt Water Intrusion • Caused by overuse of aquifer by shareholders, climate change- especially drought. • Aquifer is rock layer where groundwater is found • Shareholders—people who own the land

  6. Pollution • Infiltration from chemicals from farms, factories, cities and towns, mining, etc.

  7. Water rights • Laws vary from state to state, how laws affect how much water can be used by each shareholder.

  8. Sustainability of Current Water Supply • Ways to reduce water consumption, reuse current water supplies

  9. Remember……. • It is ultimately an argumentative essay with LOTS of research to support your claim (like a really loooooooong CSET) • Answer the question as your thesis (focus), and provide your audience an idea of what they can do now that you have convinced them ;)
