  1. UNIOR Strojna oprema more competitive with CATIA V5 • Customer Background • UNIOR Strojna oprema offers complete services for sheetmetal forming tools from concept to manufacturing and testing. Unior specialises in tools for the automotive industry for customers including Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW. • Business Challenges • Inability to work with native data supplied by OEMs and Tier 1 partners forced Unior to work with translated or re-modeled data. • Inability to make complex parts, including those requiring five-axis machining • Long development times limited ability to develop multiple iterations of a design and made the company less competitive • Material use was not optimised, increasing costs and cycle times • Solution Implementation • CATIA V5 on the Microsoft Windows platform • Hybrid design and NC manufacturing modules • Carefully selected NC post-processors • Benefits of the Solution • End-to-end process times shortened 30-40% • Ability to work in native data rather than neutral formats significantly improved • 5-axis machining capability implemented • Freed to create additional iterations, improving quality and reducing product costs • Optimised use of materials • Ability to create parts that previously were impossible Presentation Title | Date | Confidential

  2. UNIOR Strojna oprema shortens automotive die design process with CATIA V5 • The Industry • UNIOR Strojna oprema offers complete services for sheetmetal forming tools from concept to manufacturing and testing. Unior specialises in tools for the automotive industry for customers including Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW. • The Challenge • Because it works with a large number of OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, Unior often was forced to work in neutral formats rather than native data, leading to broken geometry and extensive re-modeling, stealing time that should have been devoted to design. Outdated NC machining capabilities also limited the types of parts that Unior could manufacture. • The Solution • Unior implemented CATIA V5 on the Microsoft Windows platform, allowing the company to work with native data rather than neutral formats. By combining hybrid design and NC manufacturing modules with NC post-processors developed for Unior by IBM Business Partner CadCam Design Centar, Unior has five-axis machining capabilities for the first time, allowing it to create parts it previously could not. • The Customer Benefits • End-to-end process time has been cut 30-40%, giving designers the freedom to create more iterations to arrive at a better design with higher quality. Materials are being used more efficiently and Unior is more competitive in the marketplace. “We could not do the work we do without CATIA V5. With the combination of software we have we are also making parts we couldn't make before." -- Srecko Klinc, Leader of the Design Department, UNIOR Strojna oprema

  3. UNIOR Strojna oprema, an automotive tool manufacturer based in Slovenia, wanted a CAD tool that would allow it to work in native data supplied by a wide range of OEMs and Tier 1 partners. Since implementing CATIA V5, Unior has eliminated data re-modeling and lost geometry, reduced process times by 30-40 percent and added five-axis machining to its manufacturing capabilities. CATIA V5 cuts design time for automotive die maker "Our manufacturing processes have changed for the better with the introduction of CATIA V5. Five-axis machining is a completely new technology for us.” Srecko Klinc, Leader of the Design Department, UNIOR Strojna oprema
