  1. ALICE - PHOS data processing workshop

  2. Goal of this PHOS meeting • To ensure the PHOS code integration into the common frameworks for simulation, reconstruction, raw data processing, calibration, alignment, analysis • To defined “white spots” in PHOS online and offline not covered by anyone • To coordinate different activities and to distribute tasks uniformly among contributors • To see the current progress since last meetings • To set new tasks • The ultimate goal is to get ready for first PHOS physics as soon as LHC starts Previous meetings: • 27.02-01.03.2007: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=12478 • 03.04.2007: http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=14667 Talks of this meeting at http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=15553

  3. Gamma-Charged Correlation in pp@14TeV Yaxian Mao (Alice-Wuhan Group) Institute of Particle Physics, Wuhan ALICE simulation 10000 gamma-jet (pt bin 80 GeV/c ) Pythia events with all detectors On Reconstructed jet pT is larger than gamma pT in some events. Why this ratio can be extended to larger than 1? Check correlation in Pythia 3

  4. Recalibration of ESDs from Digit Information H.Torii, Hiroshima Univ. • First version of AliPHOSRecalibrator • Recalibration coefficiencies were loaded from a txt file, which was taken from ones used during PDC06 production. • Good 0 peak • RUN5300, 100k events After Recalibration First vesion of AliPHOSRecalibrator is working properly and will be in AliRoot CVS soon.

  5. Data flow: from raw data to physics results Quality assurance Digits: EMC: A,t,id CPV: A,id PHOS signals EMC: E,t in cell CPV: Q in pad Raw data EMC: samples CPV: amplitudes FEE Raw reader Trigger FEE configuration Not defined yet Offline calibration (limited statistics) Survey data OCDB: AliPHOSCalibData AliPHOSSurvey DCS DA DAQ II HLT DA DCS data Clusterization Offline recalibration efficiencies corrections sys.errors Physics results Physics analysis ESD: AliESDCaloCluster EMC and CPV Rec.points Track segments, PID

  6. PHOS tasks Propose to ALICE Jyvaskyla Group

  7. Estimate the number of events (pi0, electrons, muons) and runs (pp 14 TeV) required to apply calibration algorithms in PHOS with an statistic error lower than 1%. Study gamma-charged jet correlation : Run Pythia events in very small ptbin (100 - 100.5 GeV) reconstruct charged jet and study energy and angular correlation with the direct photon.

  8. HLT trigger calibration • The objective of the task is to adjust the min bias trigger parameters with cosmics, in prep for p-p physics runs. It will be performed on the first PHOS module at CERN. We are looking for a motivated physicist/PhD student familiar with root to spend at least 1 month at CERN starting end May latest. • more contact Hans Mueller at CERN. Online processing - MOOD: define the parameters to be monitored on line - MOOD: implement the algorithm to increment histograms from raw data - MOOD: implement the online monitoring display
