Webre – Wells Economic Study LTTIWG Meeting – October 28, 2008 Douglas Bowman, PELead Engineer, ICT Planning501-688-1640dbowman@SPP.org
Webre-Wells Economic Study • 2017 Case • Study model includes Base Plan and Supplemental Upgrade projects • 3 Transmission Upgrades studied • Analysis uses generic data for generating facilities, based on RDI, POWERdat, supplied by ABB. • Fuel price forecasts obtained from the Energy Information Administration (EIA)
Analysis Tool - Gridview • Used for generation and transmission expansion planning, market simulation, and production cost modeling • Engine – Security Constrained Optimal Power Flow • Dispatches generation to minimize production costs while observing security constraints • Simulates economic operation of power system • Chronological simulation from hours to years • Identifies areas and durations of power system congestion
